About Lewisham Roofers
We are a chimney and roofing business working in Lewisham and the surrounding parts of South East London. Our particular focus is chimney work — stacks, pointing, flaunching and flashing — on the borough's period housing.
What we do
Most of our work falls into two related areas. The first is chimneys: repairing, repointing and rebuilding stacks, recasting flaunching, resetting pots and putting right the flashing where a stack meets the roof. The second is general roof repair on the pitched and flat roofs those chimneys sit in — slipped slates, ridge and verge work, valleys, flat roof failures and the leaks that come from all of them.
We have deliberately kept the geography small. Working across one borough rather than half of London means we know the housing stock, we can get to you, and we are not quoting for a property type we have never worked on.
How we work
We diagnose before we quote
A great deal of money is wasted in this trade repairing the wrong thing — most commonly repointing a stack when the leak is at the flashing. We look at the whole assembly, not just the part you have noticed.
We quote in writing
Scope, materials, access and price, with exclusions stated. Access costs shown separately, because they are often the largest part of a chimney job and you should be able to see that.
We will tell you not to do it
If a stack has a few more years in it, or if the sensible thing is to wait and monitor, we would rather say so. It is a better basis for the next conversation than selling you work you did not need.
We specify mortar deliberately
Soft London stock brick and hard cement are a bad combination. Where lime-based mortar is the right answer for the brickwork in front of us, that is what we will recommend, and we will explain why.
What you will not find on this website
It is worth being direct about this, because the roofing trade is not short of invented credentials.
You will not find review scores, star ratings, trade association logos, insurance figures, guarantee periods, staff photographs or claims about how many years we have been trading — because we have not verified and published those things here yet. We would rather show you nothing than show you something we have made up, and a badge on a website proves very little in any case.
What we would encourage you to do instead is ask. Ask what is covered, ask what happens if something goes wrong, ask to see photographs of the defect before and the work after. Any contractor worth using will answer all three without hesitating — and on a chimney, where you cannot climb up and inspect the finished work yourself, before-and-after photographs are the single most useful thing you can insist on.
Genuine credentials, photographs of our own completed work and any accreditations will be added to this site as they are verified — not before.
